Coaching, with a professional coach, is the practice of supporting an individual, referred to as the client or mentee or coachee, through the process of achieving a specific personal or professional result.

The structures, models and methodologies of coaching are numerous but are predominantly facilitating in style; that is the coach mainly asks questions and challenges the coachee to find answers from within himself/herself based on their values, preferences and unique perspective.

Coaching is differentiated from therapeutic and counseling disciplines since clients are in most cases considered healthy (ie not sick) and move forward from their present situation. There are a variety of approaches within the coaching methodology. Coaching is performed with individuals and groups, in person, over the phone and online/Skype.

The facilitative approach to coaching in sport was pioneered by Timothy Gallwey(1974 - The Inner Game of Tennis. Random House); before this sports coaching was (and often remains) solely a skills-based learning experience from a master in the sport. Other contexts for coaching include executive coaching, life coaching, emotional intelligence coaching and wealth coaching.

Definición: Coaching, es la práctica de apoyar a una persona, se refirió a que el cliente o coachee o aprendiz, a través del proceso de lograr un resultado específico personal o profesional.

Las estructuras, modelos y metodologías de entrenamiento son numerosos, pero son en su mayoría de facilitar en el estilo, es decir, principalmente el entrenador hace preguntas y cuestiona al coachee a encontrar las respuestas dentro de sí mismo / ella misma en función de sus valores, preferencias y la perspectiva única.

El coaching se diferencia de las disciplinas terapéuticas y asesoramiento ya que los clientes son en la mayoría de los casos considerados saludables (es decir, no está enfermo) y avanzar a partir de su situación actual. Robert Dilts

Robert Dilts (born March 21, 1955) has been a developer, author, trainer and consultant in the field of Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) since its creation in 1975 by John Grinder and Richard Bandler.

Dilts has made many personal contributions to the field of NLP including the authorship of the Encyclopedia of Systemic NLP. He is best known for his work on beliefs and strategies.

Dilts is the author of numerous books including Sleight of Mouth on a set of language patterns for shifting beliefs, Changing Belief Systems with NLP, Beliefs: Pathways to Health and Well-Being with Tim Hallbom and Suzi Smith and many others. He is also the primary author of NLP, Volume 1 with Richard Bandler, John Grinder and Judith Delozier.

He founded Behavioral Engineering - a software company with William Hanley in 1981. There he developed numerous education software programs. Math and Spelling Strategy were licensed by Apple Computer as part of its Special Delivery Software.

As a student at the University of California at Santa Cruz (UCSC) in the 1970s, Dilts was the author of the comic strip "Jimmy the Geek". Dilts graduated from UCSC in 1979.
